An initiative to celebrate and nurture the talent of next generation of authors. With a panel of leaders in the literary and creative field, these awards have been conceived as wide spectrum awards program open to all authors under the age of 30.

Deeba Salim Irfan is a writer, a poet and an entrepreneur based in Dubai.

She is the founder of ‘Young Author Awards’ which is backed by industry experts from India, Middle East and UK. She has launched it under the banner of ‘The Write Scene’, a portal for aspiring writers.

Her debut novel, Urma, with a backdrop of Iranian revolution was published in India, translated into Urdu and nominated for an award. Currently it is being translated into two more languages outside India. A few of her poems from her book – ‘Charcoal Blush’ have been translated into Nepalese.

She is also a ‘Brand Expert’ – with extensive experience in advertising and events She has launched multinational brands and has handled mega scale international events and awards.

Keki N. Daruwalla is a major Indian poet and writer in English. He has written over 12 books. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award, in 1984 for his poetry collection, The Keeper of the Dead, by the Sahitya Akademi, India’s National Academy of Letters. He was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India, in 2014.

What is the purpose of Young Author Awards?

The FIRST ever, International awards with a purpose of recognizing the ‘Young Authors’ under the age of 35 for their nominated work, published between 1st Jan 2015 to 31st Dec 2016. We also have a set of awards to encourage the team behind them who helpsthem achieve their dreams and in the process carve a niche for themselves too. The idea is to have the industry as a whole, encourage the ‘Young’ to pick their pen and write more and the aim is to foster a climate that would make them achieve more and we are here to recognize such efforts on an International level.

Which language Authors are eligible for ‘Young Author Awards 2017’?

In this inaugural year, Authors of English language are eligible. These awards shall be expanded across Arabic and other languages as well.

What are the award categories?

Book Awards & Popular Award is to celebrate the literary side, while the Creative awards to celebrate the creative side of the literary feat!

  1. Book Awards

Under this category there are three awards:
a) ‘Publisher of the Year’ for author under 35 yrs: No separate nomination to be filed for this award, winners will be selected by the Jury depending upon No. of nominations and No. of awards won by an individual publisher.
- It recognizes two publishers - the ‘Best Publisher’ – with maximum nominations
- and the ‘Best Publisher’ – with maximum awards

b) Youngest Author 2017(Age)
c) Youngest Author 2017(Best Work)

It will be judged by a distinguished panel of judges based on the creativity, objectives of the campaign laid out and the results achieved for each category.
